文化祭ーBUNKA SAI PREPARATION, OUR APRON : THE STORY

October really flies so fast and the weather is getting so much colder. However, I am super excited because once November comes, new adventures await ! Perhaps in other country, 3rd of November is not that special, but for JAPAN, IT IS !! Guess what, IT'S 文化の日(Bunka no hi - National Culture Day) I must say Japan really has so many unique celebration days and one of the "wanted" days is the Culture Day. Usually, Schools in Japan will be having a FESTIVAL !!! My Univeristy is no exception !! Afterall, my University name is Bunka Gakuen Daigaku, hahahaha, surely we have a very unique, fun and memorable festival every year !!! One of the most popular events is THE BAZAAR !!! I will make a special article about it later, because now I will tell you the オススメ(Osusume-totally recommended) item that you should find in the bazaar, OUR REVERSIBLE APRON !!!!!!!!!!!! You can have 2 different textiles at the same time on one piece of apron ! Anyone going to Bunka Sai Bazaar, GRAB IT FAST !!!! ^0^
Well, I say Our in the precious paragraph because some of my classmates and I were divided into  groups and we had to make many kind of items to sell. Let me tell you, it seems simple but IT WASN'T EASY AT ALL !!! Since the apron is a bazaar product, our sensei (teacher) were very hard on us and really encouraged to make it as perfect as possible. There are so many customers who always come every year to buy the stuff that students made, so we couldn't mess up at all. I remember for almost 2 weeks I was so stressed because the sewing machine's condition wasn't good and I couldn't sew the apron well. Working with super tight deadline really put alot of pressure. Almost everyday my group and I discussed about the textile combination for the apron and divided the working parts for the members of the group. What made it more difficult was the leather neck part of the apron. Once we cut the leather unsymmetrically, sensei would make us cut again and again until it was cut perfectyly. It was a very challenging experience for me. At first I was very upset when my apron got rejected and I need to sew it all over again, but THAT IS REAL LIFE. Who wants to buy a messy apron ! I feel lilke I am being burn in a high temperature fire so I will be a tough pottery :D hehehehe ^0^
Once the work was done we had to iron the aprons and write a message card for our buyer ^0^ I think that was my favorite part because I had a chance to tell the buyer about the philosophy of my apron. Below you can see our last phase of the work before we gave them to sensei for "last inspection" !! GUESS WHICH ONE IS MY APRON ???!!!

A HEART SHAPE MESSAGE CARD FOR THE CUSTOMER ^0^

FOLDING THE APRON LIKE ORIGAMI ? >w<

MY CRAY SUNDAY vol.1: BASEBALL NIGHT , CHEERING FROM MY ROOM !!! YEAAAAHHHH I AM A GIANTS FAN !!!!!!!!!!

Almost every weekends I will get out from my nest and fly to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku and so many other fun places to hang out with friends or just a date with myself. However, I have been so caught up with school works lately and I have promised myself to be more cautious on spending money. So, here I am !!! All day long in my room, from sleeping on my bed staring at the ceeling, cooking my own meal, surfing in Rakuten gazing for some cool clothes and watching online movie. OH WAIT, I think I went out for a while, but only for paying the electricity, phone and water bill ToT
While crawling around doing nothing, I remembered that this night my favorite baseball team, YOMIURI GIANTS is having a CLIMAX SERIES match againts the CHUNICHI DRAGON. I have always want to watch the baseball match LIVE, in Tokyo Dome, but I guess I just haven't got the chance to dig more of how to buy the match ticket. Well, I DON'T CARE !! I WANT TO CHEER UP FOR MY GIANTS !!!!!!!!! Few minutes later as it went close to 19.00, the time when the match will air on TV, I dress up with my one and only Giants Uniform with number 7 on it ( This is CHONO's number, he is so athletic and cool ^0^ kyaaaaaa) and a Giants cap which all of them my dad bought me !!. As I am watching the match and writing this, I still don't know how Giants end up, the score is 2-2... T0T 頑張って!!!!!!
Here are my craziness in my room ! Sorry for the mess in my room, hehehehe ^0^

A SATURDAY IN SHIMOKITAZAWA - HEAVEN OF FASHION RECYCLE SHOP and SELLING TIPS :)

Japan isn't always about the glamorous fashion life in Shibuya and super busy clean look salary men in Shinjuku. There is also a retro side of Japan, especially Tokyo, and you can definitely found it in SHIMOKITAZAWA, where all the vintage stuffs live ^0^
When you surf the internet and type keywords like "vintage clothes Tokyo"  mostly the result will guide you to Shimokitazawa. Before I came to Japan, I never thought that my old clothes, shoes, bags and any other fashion items can have a new home. I used to not know what I should do with the stuff that I am alredy bored with. Turns out, countries like Japan has a solution for the wheel of fashion which rotates every seconds. It is, through RECYCLE SHOP !
I have been living in Japan for a year now and just about 6 months ago, I found a recycle shop near my dorm. I have been selling my old stuff since then and of course I found some cute vintage stuff. However, I want something more !!! I want to feel the REAL VINTAGE STORE !!! Luckily, I have 先輩(senpai-senior student) from my old Japanese language school who agreed to give me a tour of Shimokitazawa, YEIIIYYY !!!!

Meet, MIDORI a.k.a JOSEPHINE :)

It was a bright sunny Saturday when we met in Musashi Koganei Station and I saw Midori with her 2 huge bags, ready to get rid of her old stuff, hehehe. Since our starting point is not from Shinjuku, we took the JR Chuo Line to Kichijoji and we changed to Keio Inokashira Line. Actually, for anyone who start the journey from Shinjuku or Shibuya, there is a direct line to Shimokitazawa too. I was super excited because that day my target was not only to pick up ( meaning : buy :p) some vintage stuff, I wanted to try using my PAMPY's CAMERA. (Pampy - my daddy cute nickname ^^) He passed that camera to me when we meet for spring holiday and I never tried to use it because it is so heavy. 今から頑張ります!! (ima kara gambarimasu - from now on I will try my best !) So, you will see the pictures on this article were taken by Nikon D300S. I am still a newbie in the camera world so, kindly understand my little amount of experience :)

I will introduce to you guys some stores that I went. マイオススメ !!!!!!!!!!!!!(MY OSUSUME-MyRecommendtion) ^0^

1. JUMBLE STORE (sorry I am not allowed to took pictures of the store T.T)

This store is quite big for a fashion recycle shop because it has some floors and seperate the categories for the clothes. Jumble Store carries variety of men and women brand clothes and you can find any styles !! The price is affordable I think, but there are some pricy stuff too because they are famous branded stuff. And, the best part is... YOU CAN SELL YOUR OLD STUFF HERE!!!!
Okay let me give you guys some advice in selling your items to recycle store :
#1 DON'T EXPECT TOO HIGH
Well, don't be sad when I said it, because the basic rule of getting rid of your stuff is not to gain so much money, but TO EMPTY YOUR CLOSET FOR SOME SPACE. When you sell the clothes, I am sure that the amount of money the store will give is not as much as the original price. So, be ready for it !
#2 SELL ON THE RIGHT SEASON
Some recycle shop won't accept clothes which are out of season. I was once sold my winter knitwear on summer and they rejected them. I coud still sell some of the thin knitwear but the price they offered to me was lower than I could get when I sold my items on Fall or Winter. More interesting part is in Jumbe Store when you have the same exact items that they need, you can get so much more money for it.

check the store : http://www.jumblestore.com/

2. RAINBOW NATURAL CAFE AND GRILL

As we are guided by the rainbow toward the stairs, you will find a super healthy restaurant with delicious dish !! Midori was actually the one who found this pace accidentally. I was so amazed with the pictures of the lunch dish and it was really worth going ! The place was super cute and simple with bright light getting inside the place. You can also read some interesting books there. Just ike what Midori brought in the pictures bellow.
